Ronaldo caps 2016 with yet just another award ahead of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.
He scored an incredible 59 goals for both club and country in the calendar year 2016, in that same year he won the UEFA Champions league, Super cup, European championship cup and Club World Cup with club and country. On receiving the award, he said:
“It’s a great feeling, as I mentioned many times last year was a dream year, no doubt about that,” the Portuguese striker said at the ceremony.
“Real Madrid win the Champions League and the national team won the Euros for the first time in history. Unbelievable season. I’m so proud and happy.
“I have to say thank you to my team-mates of Real Madrid, and team-mates of Portugal and the coaches. It was an amazing year.”
He had also won the Ballon d’Or in December, the 31 year old scored the winning penalty for Real Madrid at San Siro in Milan.
Cristiano Ronaldo suffered an injury in the European championship final, despite this, Portugal still went on to win the cup.
