According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are going to appeal the length of Mane’s match ban after being shown a red card by the referee in their match against Manchester City.

Liverpool have an option to claim excessive punishment which might make Mane’s red card reduced to one or two matches.

Although, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said that the club are unlikely to appeal the ban.

“It never works, it would be another waste of time, like the game today. Not sure [if Liverpool will appeal]. I think everyone knows he didn’t see the goalie,” Klopp said.

“He just wanted to get the ball as soon as possible, hopefully the goalie is not seriously injured.

“[Mane] is very, very upset,” Klopp added.

“We couldn’t keep him, he was shocked about the situation. I am sure also about the decision.”

The Senegal international is set to miss Liverpool Saturday’s trip to Burnley and also their next two games after.

This might be costly for Liverpool as Mane has already scored in each of Liverpool’s three opening Premier League games of the season.
