Three reasons why Real Madrid have ‘made contact’ to sign Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid have shown a strong interest in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold and have reportedly reached out to the Liverpool star’s representatives.

Despite being a key player for Liverpool and a regular starter, the Reds may struggle to keep him at Anfield.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Real Madrid have held multiple discussions with Alexander-Arnold’s camp regarding a possible transfer. Here are three main reasons the Spanish giants are eager to secure his signature…Continue Reading

1. Contract Situation
Alexander-Arnold’s current deal with Liverpool runs until the summer of 2025, and Real Madrid believe they can take advantage of this timeline to negotiate a favorable deal.

Relevo suggests it’s common for Real Madrid to target top players nearing the end of their contracts.

Additionally, Alexander-Arnold has yet to respond to Liverpool’s recent contract extension offer, leaving his future uncertain.

2. Successor to Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez
Real Madrid view Alexander-Arnold as the perfect long-term replacement for their aging right-backs, Dani Carvajal (32) and Lucas Vazquez (33).

At 25, Alexander-Arnold still has many years left at his peak, and the club believes he could eventually take over the role full-time. His versatility is another attribute that Real Madrid greatly values.

3. Close Bond with Jude Bellingham
Another factor is Alexander-Arnold’s strong relationship with Real Madrid’s current English star, Jude Bellingham.

Although Alexander-Arnold reportedly tried to persuade Bellingham to join Liverpool, the pair could now reunite in Madrid, strengthening the bond between the two English internationals at the club.

Bellingham hailed Alexander-Arnold after England beat Serbia at Euro 2024 and he said: ‘[He] makes it so easy for me because he can control the game so well defensively in that position.

‘I know people talk a lot of rubbish but he’s so aggressive with that back to goal pressure and it really helped me as well because it meant I got a breather when he went out.

‘I think we understand each other well with the ball, he wants to play positive all the time, he wants to play forward all the time.’
