Ten Hag fires brutal jibe at Carragher after Man Utd criticism

Erik ten Hag has responded to Jamie Carragher’s recent critique of Manchester United.

Carragher lambasted United’s defensive performance in their loss to Fulham.

The ex-Liverpool player scrutinized the instructions provided to the players while dissecting a clip from the kick-off, particularly focusing on young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

Carragher analysed different players’ positions, saying: “These players can’t receive the ball in the positions they take up so actually there is a massive problem for United when they’ve got the ball.

During his pre-match press conference prior to their FA Cup encounter with Nottingham Forest, Ten Hag faced inquiries regarding Carragher’s remarks.

The United manager unequivocally expressed his dissatisfaction with the analysis provided by the former Liverpool player.

“First of all, some analysts are very objective in their comments. Very good advice, some are very subjective. Jamie Carragher from the first moment on has criticised and now he wants to make his point,” Ten Hag explained.

“Probably in the first half an hour, yeah, he had a point. Fulham in their midfield set up surprised us a little bit and then we have to find the solutions. After half an hour we found the solutions.”

United has now endured 15 defeats this season, and their European journey concluded bitterly as they finished at the bottom of the Champions League group.

Adding to their European struggles, United’s defense of the League Cup was cut short, facing elimination in the second round.

Fulham’s triumph over the weekend marked United’s eighth home defeat of the season, bringing them within striking distance of the club’s record for most losses at Old Trafford in a single campaign.

Given United’s distant position from the title race this season, Ten Hag emphasized the significance of the FA Cup for the club.

“When you are unbeaten for January and February, then you lose one game…Obviously it was a poor performance, poor defeat.

“We want to stay in every competiton. That doesn’t change our approach, because that is for every match.”
