Cristiano Ronaldo sends cheeky message moments after Man Utd lose at Chelsea

Fans were quick to pick up on the ‘timing’ of Cristiano Ronaldo’s social media update as Manchester United’s lead slipped away during the final moments of their Premier League game against Chelsea.

Erik ten Hag’s team seemed poised to secure a victory at Stamford Bridge, holding a 3-2 advantage into stoppage time thanks to goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.

However, the match took a stunning turn, marking one of the most unforgettable conclusions in Premier League history. Cole Palmer leveled the score with a penalty kick after Diogo Dalot was judged to have fouled Noni Madueke.

Then, in a breathtaking 110th minute, lifelong United supporter Palmer netted a deflected shot from the edge of the area, securing his hat-trick and propelling Chelsea to a 4-3 victory.

As the tension mounted in West London, Cristiano Ronaldo, the ex-Manchester United striker, made a post on social media. While it didn’t reference the match, fans were quick to react amidst the unfolding events.

The 39-year-old, leading the Saudi Pro League as the current season’s top scorer with 29 goals in 24 matches, shared a photo of himself on his phone, captioned: “Happy days”.

The timing of the post, at 10:16pm, coincidentally right after Cole Palmer’s penalty equalizer, sparked a flurry of fan remarks, despite it possibly being just a coincidence.

One fan wrote: “The timing is crazy,” while another commented: “You can’t tell me he didn’t do that on purpose.”

A third said: “There’s no way this is a coincidence,” and a fourth commented: “The timing he’s so funny for this.”

Another added: “This post was obviously being planned before Chelsea had even gotten a penalty and United was winning lmao. You’re telling me he had time to do all this before Palmer equalised? This was clearly not a dig at United.”

Following a candid interview with Piers Morgan, in which he expressed a lack of respect for Erik ten Hag, Ronaldo parted ways with Manchester United by mutual agreement in late 2022.

Shortly after, he signed a lucrative contract reportedly valued at £177 million annually with Al Nassr of the Saudi Pro League.
