Three transfer targets have emerged for Manchester United under the leadership of new manager Ruben Amorim, as the January window approaches.
Amorim took charge at Old Trafford last month, replacing the sacked Erik ten Hag after moving from Portuguese side Sporting. Since then, United’s form has been inconsistent, with last week serving as a prime example.
Last weekend, United came from behind to defeat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium, only to suffer a dramatic 4-3 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-final. ..Continue Reading
Today, their rollercoaster campaign continued as Bournemouth stunned Amorim’s side with a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.
Dean Huijsen opened the scoring for the Cherries within the first half-hour, followed by Justin Kluivert converting a penalty after Noussair Mazraoui’s foul.
Antoine Semenyo then sealed the victory for Andoni Iraola’s team shortly after.
The defeat leaves United in 13th place in the Premier League, while Bournemouth sits in fifth, three points behind fourth-placed Nottingham Forest.
Since his arrival, Amorim has been working with the squad he inherited from Ten Hag and has yet to make any signings of his own.
With the January transfer window just weeks away, Amorim is reportedly pushing for the acquisition of three ‘Galacticos’ to strengthen the squad.
According to El Nacional, one target is Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, who could be available for €75m due to a special clause in his loan deal.
Osimhen’s addition would bolster United’s attack, currently featuring Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Marcus Rashford.
Osimhen was among the strikers linked with United in the summer of 2023, before the club signed Hojlund from Atalanta.
The report also mentions Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo and young Southampton midfielder Tyler Dibling as potential signings.
The combined cost for all three transfers is estimated to be around €200m (£166m), though it remains uncertain how many deals United will complete.
