Recently, rumors have suggested that the Gunners might make a move for Newcastle United’s in-form striker Isak, who has become one of the Premier League’s standout forwards.
However, a new report has provided a significant update on Arsenal’s interest in Isak and confirmed that Arteta plans to offload three key players in the coming months.
According to The Daily Mail, it is now highly unlikely that Arsenal will be able to muster the funds required to convince Newcastle to part with their star player, with the report claiming that a British-record transfer fee would be necessary.
Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, it is reported that owner Stan Kroenke is extremely unlikely to approve such a substantial expenditure for the 25-year-old striker.
And, although the Gunners are currently adhering to Profit and Sustainability Rules, such a move for Isak could jeopardize this compliance, prompting club officials to downplay the rumors despite clear interest from Arteta.
Instead, the Spanish manager will focus on outgoing transfers in the next two windows, with three names at the top of Arteta’s departure list.
Despite his recent uptick in form, Arsenal will reportedly entertain offers for striker Gabriel Jesus at the end of the season.
The Brazilian has scored an impressive six goals in his last four appearances for Arsenal in all competitions but is considered surplus to requirements due to inconsistent performances.
Midfielder Thomas Partey is also expected to leave at the end of the season, with the club reportedly unwilling to extend his current £150,000-a-week contract ahead of its expiration in June.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko could depart Arsenal in the January transfer window after losing his place in Arteta’s starting lineup.
