This follows just days after Amorim labeled his team as the “worst team” in the club’s history after their 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton last Sunday.
“In [the past] 10 games in Premier League, we won two,” said Amorim. “Imagine what this is for a fan of Manchester United. Imagine what this is for me.
“We are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that.
“We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know you [media] want headlines but I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that. Here you go: your headlines.”
However, he has since clarified his remarks, stating in a Wednesday press conference that he was “talking more for myself.”
Despite being just over two months into his tenure at United, Amorim faces concerns due to the club’s current 13th position in the Premier League. He is likely to look at moving players and bringing in new talent in upcoming transfer windows.
According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, 32-year-old midfielder Casemiro has “not met the expected level” and has “generated disappointment” among the board and coaching staff, leading to speculation about his potential departure from the club.
The report also mentions that his former teammate at Real Madrid and United, Cristiano Ronaldo, would like him to join the Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.
