Cristiano Ronaldo is widely celebrated as one of the greatest footballers of all time, but his son, Mateo, often declares that there is one player “better” than him at the moment.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star netted his 920th career goal on Sunday as Al Nassr triumphed 3-1 over Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League.

In addition to having the most Champions League goals in history with 141, Ronaldo has found the net in four Champions League finals, more than any other player.
In an upcoming interview with Spanish publication La Sexta, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner reveals that his seven-year-old son, Mateo, believes Kylian Mbappe is currently the superior player.
“Mateo, he really likes Mbappe,” Ronaldo said. “He sometimes tells me: ‘Hey dad, Mbappe is better than you,’ and I reply by saying: ‘No, I am better than him, I have scored more goals.”
Mbappe has always been a great admirer of Ronaldo. As a child, he adorned his bedroom walls with posters of the Portuguese star.
Raised in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, the French forward was fixated on emulating Ronaldo—his father once mentioned that Mbappe would “spend hours” watching CR7’s videos online.
Years later, Mbappe revealed during an interview with Spanish publication MARCA how significant Portugal’s number seven has been in shaping his career.
“He is a hero from my childhood and it was amazing to meet him when I visited Valdebebas,” he said.
Mbappe’s former teammate, Abdou Diallo, has previously shared some insights into Mbappe’s perspective on the Ronaldo vs Messi debate.
Speaking in December, the defender said: “Cristiano Ronaldo is literally everything to Kylian Mbappe. If you mention Lionel Messi against Cristiano, Mbappe will debate with you for at least an hour.”
