In recent weeks, Mikel Arteta has emphasized the importance of bolstering the squad to improve Arsenal’s prospects this season, especially as the team competes in three different competitions.
“I’m very confident with the work that the club is doing, and exploring every single opportunity that we believe can have an impact on the team,” said the Spaniard when asked if Arsenal will recruit before the February 3 deadline.
“If that’s certainly the case and we can agree on something, we will, and if not, we won’t.”
With their chase for Ollie Watkins having cooled following Aston Villa’s refusal to sell, Arsenal have shifted their focus to other potential targets.
According to GiveMeSport, the Gunners are now considering moves for Benjamin Sesko or Dusan Vlahovic.
Vlahovic, previously linked with a transfer to the Emirates Stadium, opted to join Juventus in 2022. Since then, the Serbian international has netted 53 goals in 128 appearances for the Italian club. However, with Juventus recently acquiring Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, Vlahovic might be open to a new move.
On the other hand, Benjamin Sesko, the promising RB Leipzig striker, has frequently been linked with Arsenal and is reportedly held in high regard at the club.
Sesko, 21, has already scored 14 Bundesliga goals this season and is considered the top priority among the two potential signings.
The Slovenian striker’s agent has also expressed interest in a Premier League move earlier this year, indicating that the decision now lies with Arteta and Arsenal.
“I think you should ask Mr. Arteta about that,” said Elvis Basanovic when asked by Slovenian TV channel Arena Sport.
“But I think Sesko could suit many clubs because he has different football skills.
“He can play alone in attack, with two strikers, a little further back, he has height, speed, technical speed.”
