Rashford’s £325,000 per week salary was believed to be a stumbling block in negotiations with several clubs. So, how much will Aston Villa contribute toward his substantial wages?
As per The Athletic’s report, “Villa would be paying a significant portion of Rashford’s £325,000-a-week wages and committing to a buy option.”
Italy-based journalist Luca Bendoni provided an update via X, writing: “Aston Villa and Manchester United are negotiating the last terms of Marcus Rashford’s deal.
“It is expected to be a loan with an option to buy. Villa is expected to pay more than half of the salary until June [should be 60/40 with United]. If the option is triggered, Rashford should sign a deal until 2028.”
If this information is accurate, Villa will be covering £195,000, while United will contribute £130,000 of Rashford’s weekly wage.
Fans on social media were quick to voice their opinions on the financial arrangement United is set to undertake.
One said: “Cheapskates. Even when we loan out players, we get ripped off.”
Another added: “They’ve just sold a player for 60 million. We always get had over.”
A third explained: “This is United right? “Villa sell Duran for 69m. Loaded.
“Villa want Rashford. “Villa say can’t cover all of salary. “United say oh ok mate. Can you cover 60%?”
While a fourth commented: “That’s some serious backing from Villa! Will this be the fresh start Rashford needs?”
A fifth slammed: “Why can’t they pay in full?”
Another exclaimed: “They should have covered 100% of Rashford’s salary but it’s okay, let him go and get a different experience as he had indicated.”
Amorim’s side will return to Premier League action on Sunday when they will face Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
