An injury expert has estimated the duration of Lisandro Martinez’s recovery after he was stretchered off during Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, and it’s not good news for the Red Devils.
Ruben Amorim’s team faced the Eagles at Old Trafford on Sunday and were undone by two goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta.
This result marked their seventh loss in 13 Premier League matches since the Portuguese manager’s arrival in November. ..Continue Reading
Currently sitting in 13th place, United’s struggles this season continue. Despite his recent arrival, Amorim is already considered one of the favourites to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.
Martinez’s situation worsened when he was carried off the field in the 82nd minute after battling against Ismaila Sarr in the 76th minute and sustaining a knee injury.
Unable to continue, he left the pitch in tears. Given his emotional state, the prognosis doesn’t look promising. An injury expert has predicted the length of Martinez’s absence, and it isn’t encouraging.
Shortly after Martinez was forced off, Physio Scout on X (Twitter) shared their analysis of the defender’s injury, indicating its severity.
Having reviewed footage of the incident, they suggested the injury might involve the ACL, which is alarming for both the centre-back and United.
The expert further mentioned that if the ACL is indeed affected, Martinez could be sidelined for at least nine months.
However, there remains a glimmer of hope. The expert also noted the possibility that the injury might be a bone bruise or related to the meniscus rather than the ACL. Only time will tell.
