Real Madrid is reportedly attempting to disrupt Liverpool’s transfer plans after allegedly reaching an agreement to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.
According to talkSPORT, Alexander-Arnold has decided to join Real Madrid, ending his lifelong association with Liverpool that began at the age of six.
However, their initial focus is said to be on acquiring a center-back, and Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen has emerged as a key target.
Huijsen, 19, was born in the Netherlands but represents Spain internationally, recently making his debut during the Nations League quarter-final against his birth country.
On Wednesday, AS reported that Real Madrid has entered the race for Huijsen, who has impressed during his debut Premier League season under Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola.
Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are also said to be monitoring the young defender.
Intriguingly, Huijsen’s father, Don, shared the AS report on Instagram, which highlighted Real Madrid’s pursuit of the player under the title “Operacion Huijsen.”
During his time on international duty, Huijsen told Spanish media that he is not currently considering his future beyond this season, leaving speculation surrounding his next move wide open.
“I’m not thinking about that right now,” he said. “I’m thinking about ending the season well, and I hope I do.
“Then when the time comes, we’ll see. It makes you proud that such a big team is interested in you. I’ll keep working, and being humble.”
