HALF TIME: Arsenal 1-0 Bournemouth
One last attack for Bournemouth comes to nought, and that will end the half.
Arsenal take a narrow but deserved lead into the break, but Bournemouth have not been without their chances. It is all to play for in the second period.
44mins: Trossard, Saka, and Martinelli all look to attack for Arsenal but are confounded, and Outtara clears.
41mins: The Bournemouth free kick finds Huijsen but ultimately comes to nought.
34mins: RICE OPENS THE SCORING! He had been struggling a bit through the first half, but he latches onto Odegaard’s through-ball and rounds Arrizabalaga, finishing into an empty net.
31mins: Arrizabalaga gets down quickly to deny Trossard! The Belgian heads Martinelli’s cross at goal from the edge of the six-yard box, but the Spanish ‘keeper hits the deck to stop it on the line.
29mins: Kluivert takes a whack in the face after challenging Lewis-Skelly. Nothing intentional in it, and the fans are, well, disappointed to see the play pulled back.
28mins: Clumsy passing at the back gifts Arsenal an attack – Partey pulls it back to Martinelli at the edge of the box, and his shot is along the floor and misses wide right.
26mins: CLOSE! The best chance of the afternoon so far by some distance goes begging. Kerkez whips a delectable cross into Evanilson, who heads over from close range.
He’ll be disappointed with that one, but Arsenal will breathe a considerable sigh of relief.
24mins: A bit of the vim and vigour has come out of this tie now. Hectic opening stages saw chances fly either way, but proceedings are now looking rather more placid.
20mins: Guess who – Rice is back in the spotlight. He drives down the left wing and puts a poor cross loosely goalwards before clattering the advertising hoardings.
19mins: Rice puts his corner straight behind for a goal kick. He looks to the turf for explanation. Cut the cameras.
18mins: Kepa comes out of his area to head away from Martinelli. Proactive keeping from the Spaniard as Arsenal grow into the tie.
15mins: Martinelli plays Rice into the area, but his shot goes wide across the face of goal. Comfortably Arsenal’s best chance of the match so far.
13mins: Ben White puts a cross behind for a Bournemouth corner, but the Cherries cannot produce any credible threat from the set piece.
Arsenal counter, but Zabarnyi cuts out Odegaard’s pass to Rice at a crucial juncture.
9mins: More sloppy passing from Arsenal as Partey’s on-the-ground pass to Saka only finds touch.
6mins: As so many other teams have this season, Arsenal look to be struggling with the Bournemouth press. They can’t keep hold of the ball for love nor money thus far.
4mins: A free kick for Arsenal at the left courner of the Bournemouth box.
3mins: A loose pass from Partey finds Tyler Adams, who in turn finds Tavernier, but his through ball is again overhit.
2mins: Outtara nutmegs Ben White and puts a cross into the box, but Raya collects.
Arsenal 0-0 Bournemouth
1min: Bournemouth enjoy the first spell of possession. Zabarnyi hoofs one up to Tavernier but it is overhit and goes behind for a first goal kick of the afternoon.
