Meanwhile, 22-year-old Nico Williams appears to be edging closer to a move to Barcelona.
According to The Athletic, Barça have struck a verbal agreement with Williams and do not see his €60 million (£50m, $62m) release clause as a stumbling block in securing the transfer this summer.
Although Arsenal, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich have also shown interest, Williams is said to have prioritized a move to Hansi Flick’s side.
Still, the report notes that while the release clause isn’t an issue, Barcelona are currently struggling to accommodate Williams’ high salary demands — a key factor holding up the finalization of the deal.
Williams, a right-footed winger who typically operates from the left, could face stiff competition for a place in the starting XI.
Raphinha, a Ballon d’Or nominee, was a standout performer in that role during Barcelona’s treble-winning campaign last season.
Rashford has long been linked with a move to Barcelona, and widespread reports suggest the forward is keen on a transfer to the Camp Nou.
Back in May, Barça sporting director Deco openly praised Rashford, further fueling speculation.
“We like Luis [Diaz], we like [Marcus] Rashford, and we like other players,” Deco told Catalan radio station RAC1.
“When we go to the market, there are names that we know and that could improve the team.”
And despite Williams and Rashford playing in the same position, Mundo Deportivo reports that the United star is still interested in a move to Barca and “believes his arrival is compatible with that of Nico Williams because he can occupy all three attacking positions and could be a good alternative to Lewandowski”.
MD also claims that Man United’s asking price for Rashford will be near €30m, but a loan may also work for all parties involved.
Barcelona have also been been linked with move for Liverpool’s Luis Diaz but in June BBC Sport reported that the Premier League side have made clear that the Colombian is not for sale.
