At 27, Rashford looks to be out of favour at Old Trafford as manager Ruben Amorim continues reshaping the team to fit his vision.
He was among a group of five players—including Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia—who’ve been training separately from United’s core squad since early pre-season.
None of the five featured in United’s pre-season tour of the U.S., and Rashford is the first to secure a departure after finishing last season on loan at Aston Villa.
He’s already made his debut for Barcelona and provided an assist in his second appearance—during a friendly clash against FC Seoul.
To register Rashford, Barca are reportedly set to offload another player—even though he’d rather stay put.
Marc Casado, a graduate of the legendary La Masia academy, broke into the first team in November 2022.
Since then, he’s made 41 appearances for the Catalan giants, scoring once and earning two caps for Spain.
His standout season came last year, tallying 36 outings and netting a goal against Real Sociedad in a commanding 4-0 win.
Despite his contributions, reports indicate Casado may be moved on to make room for Rashford’s inclusion—against the midfielder’s own wishes.
According to *AS*, Casado’s future is uncertain, with suggestions he’s likely to be sold.
Letting him go would also help ease the club’s Financial Fair Play constraints, accelerating their progress toward the 1:1 player registration rule.
The report adds that competition in his defensive midfield role is mounting, with Frenkie De Jong fit again and Marc Bernal returning.
Barcelona reportedly value Casado at €30 million, but are willing to negotiate either a full transfer or a loan deal with a buy option.
Casado, however, is said to be hesitant about departing. A lifelong supporter of the club, he’s eager to succeed at Camp Nou even with limited opportunities ahead.
