With the transfer window rapidly approaching its close, Chelsea have yet to finalize a deal for Garnacho, leaving the situation unresolved. ..Continue Reading
In the meantime, the youngster remains out of Ruben Amorim’s tactical plans and risks being caught in limbo unless Chelsea accelerate their efforts.
Optimism still surrounds the potential move, especially after Garnacho reportedly rejected interest from Bayern Munich, making it clear his preference is a switch to West London.
However, Manchester United are standing firm on their valuation and won’t offload players like Garnacho, Antony, or Jadon Sancho without securing the right terms—a position Amorim emphasized earlier in the summer.
He told reporters: “We are just allowing these players to think and decide. If they reach a point where they will have to join the team, they will join because they are our players.
“I know for a fact Omar (Barrada, CEO) and Jason (Wilcox, director of football) and the club have a number (price) for these players. If they don’t reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that. I understand other clubs are maybe waiting for the last minute, but they can have a surprise.”
That said, one factor that could accelerate Chelsea’s pursuit of Garnacho is the possibility of Manchester United addressing one of their own squad needs through the deal.
According to Ben Jacobs of GiveMeSport, United have expressed interest in acquiring Chelsea’s Andrey Santos as part of a potential swap involving Garnacho.
Santos, who spent the previous season on loan at Strasbourg and earned praise for his performances, has now been integrated into Enzo Maresca’s first-team plans at Stamford Bridge.
Currently, Chelsea are said to have informed United that Santos is not available for transfer. However, with the clock ticking on the summer window and their desire to land Garnacho intensifying, it remains uncertain whether that position will hold.
From United’s perspective, their interest in Santos is understandable. After being priced out of a move for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, they’re seeking a midfielder with similar qualities—and Santos fits the bill.
Recently labeled “dominant” by scout Jacek Kulig, the Brazilian could prove to be a valuable asset in bolstering United’s midfield options.
