Vinicius Jr began the Champions League match against Marseille on the bench, a surprising decision by Xabi Alonso given the attacking lineup that featured Rodrygo, Arda Guler, and Franco Mastantuono supporting Kylian Mbappe.
He entered the game in the 63rd minute, replacing Rodrygo, and contributed to Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory, which was secured by two penalties from Mbappe. ..Continue Reading
The following day, Vinicius shared a black-and-white photo of himself walking off the pitch without his shirt, captioned: “Principles of a Champion.”
The meaning behind the post remains uncertain, but it has sparked speculation about his future with the club.
In the past, Vinicius has been linked to potential moves to both the Saudi Pro League and the Premier League.
Back in 2023, he expressed his deep connection to Flamengo, saying: “I think I could stay here (Real Madrid) my whole career, but the club of my life is Flamengo.”
He added: “I love life here in general, and it’s going well for my family too. When my loved ones walk around, they are recognised and they wish us nothing but happiness.”
Reflecting on his experience, he said: “Little by little, I discovered this new life, new emotions, a fervour… Madrid is unique. Everyone around the world tells me about this club.”
He continued: “And apart from that, I like it. I’m quite a homebody, but we do a lot of activities.”
Vinicius rose through the ranks at Flamengo, making 69 appearances before transferring to Real Madrid in 2018.
The team is set to return to La Liga action this weekend with a match against Espanyol at the Bernabeu.
