The 19-year-old has played just 14 minutes for Real Madrid since Xabi Alonso took over from Carlo Ancelotti as manager after the 2024/25 season. ..Continue Reading
Endrick joined from Palmeiras in the summer of 2024 with a strong reputation, but despite scoring seven goals in 37 appearances during his debut season, he has yet to secure a regular starting role at the club.
The Brazilian, who has earned 14 international caps, has recently been dropped from the Selecao squad, with Ancelotti now managing the national team. He has missed selection for Brazil in the last four international call-ups.
To boost his chances of returning to the Brazil setup ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Endrick needs consistent game time — something he could find through a loan spell at Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.
BBC Sport reports that Real Madrid and Lyon are in “advanced talks” over a January loan agreement.
Insiders claim the deal, which would last until the end of the current campaign, is nearing completion.
However, Shoot has reported that Chelsea may be trying to derail the move, with the London club reportedly making enquiries about the forward’s availability.
Should he move to Chelsea, Endrick would join fellow Brazilians Andrey Santos, Estevao, and Joao Pedro at Stamford Bridge.
Still, the question lingers: why has Endrick seen so little action this season?
In late October, Alonso addressed the issue, saying he’d “like him to have played already,” but explained that Real had been involved in “tight” matches. He also noted that “he’s training well”.
Spanish football analyst Guillem Balague added that Endrick has found it difficult to “get into the dynamic of the team” under Alonso’s tactics.
“Alonso recognises he has a good relationship with the goal; it is easy for him to score, but there are priorities,” Balague told BBC Sport.
“Gonzalo Garcia gives him more because he holds the ball well. He is more linked to the team, whereas Endrick is a finisher and hasn’t managed to get into the dynamics of the team.
“A lot of things suggest he is not ready for now, but he can be in the near future. He will be a regular goalscorer, but you start to wonder if the players ahead of him will get in his way. He is at this stage of his career where he becomes a Real Madrid player or a very good professional somewhere else.”
