Semenyo has emerged as one of the Premier League’s top performers this season, registering six goals and three assists under Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth. ..Continue Reading
The 25-year-old drew considerable attention before the 2025–26 season, with Manchester United, Tottenham, and other clubs reportedly eyeing a summer move.
Despite the speculation, Semenyo committed to a five-year contract with Bournemouth in early July, though a specific clause could see him depart sooner than expected.
According to BBC Sport, the Ghanaian forward has a £65 million release clause that can be triggered during the first two weeks of the January window.
Liverpool are considering a move for Semenyo, according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports the club is “well informed” about Bournemouth’s valuation.
Manchester United are also in the mix for the in-form attacker, and a reported subtle gesture*
might give them the upper hand in negotiations.
The Manchester Evening News claims United hope to entice Semenyo by offering him his preferred number 24 shirt.
Currently, that number belongs to goalkeeper Andre Onana, whose future at the club is uncertain following a loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor for the 2025–26 season.
“Given the goalkeeper’s current standing, it would be no grievance for the club to relieve Onana of the jersey,” said the report. “Especially if it would help them land one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League at present.”
Semenyo has worn the number 24 throughout his three-year spell at Bournemouth.
As previously noted, Liverpool are *considering* a move for Semenyo, with Manchester City also showing interest, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano provided an in-depth update on Liverpool’s pursuit.
“I maintain my information on Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. Liverpool have his name on their short list for sure,” he began. “Liverpool are considering Semenyo for the January transfer window. The Reds are well informed on the disclosed £60 million plus £5m.
“Semenyo remains a topic for Liverpool for sure. is a player they are tracking, is a player they are following.
“Now what has to happen to see moving to Liverpool? Liverpool need to decide internally what they want to do in January. Something like okay we like this player let’s go for it.
“After already spending big money in the summer they need to decide on the technical and financial point of view what they want to do in the January transfer window. So this is going to be decided in the next weeks for sure. But Liverpool are seriously considering Semeno.”
Romano added: “They’re not the only club because I told you last summer Semenyo was in the list of Man United. Last summer Semenyo was in the list of Tottenham. Manchester City are also following the players. So keep an eye also Man City. There is a lot of interest in Semenyo.
“It is an opportunity on the market. A player who is doing fantastic for Bournemouth, for this money which is a big amount but still worth it. And so for sure Liverpool are really interested in the player tracking the player.”
