In the Champions League last night, Liverpool suffered perhaps their worst defeat under Slot on Wednesday night as Dutch side PSV Eindhoven secured a dominant 4-1 win over the Premier League champions at Anfield. ..Continue Reading
It means that Liverpool have now conceded seven goals while scoring just one goal in three consecutive losses, two of which were home matches.
Such a dismal loss has led to further pressure being piled on Liverpool manager Slot, who faces uncertainty about the future of his job just seven months after winning the Premier League title.
But now, the Dutchman has been made aware of the Liverpool board’s decision about his future ahead of their upcoming match against West Ham United.
After the loss to PSV, Slot admitted that he was not worried about his position, but he needed to do better in the coming games.
He said: “No I am not worried. My focus is on other things than worrying about my own position. I need to do better.”
And according to a report from Mail Sport, Slot’s optimism is warranted as he retains the backing of the Liverpool hierarchy who trust that he will be able turn around their dreadful run of form.
Liverpool reporter Lewis Steele claimed that sources close to both the club and to Slot himself have insisted this morning that his position as head coach is safe and the defeat to PSV has had no impact.
Meanwhile Liverpool’s players and staff have been given Thursday to recover from the Champions League fixture before getting the day off on Friday.
Liverpool’s upcoming match against West Ham United is viewed as a must-win fixture for Arne Slot.
Speaking further about the uncertainty surronding his position after the loss to PSV, Slot added: “I am feeling safe.
“I am OK, I have got a lot of support from above. It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory, of course, but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.
“I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”
