Tammy Abraham speaks out after Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat

Tammy Abraham says Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat ‘hurts’ but claims the London side still have ‘unfinished business’ this campaign.

Abraham was left out of Chelsea’s 20-man squad for Saturday’s final at Wembley, despite being the club’s joint-top scorer this campaign on 12 goals across all competitions.

The England star has struggled for game time since Tuchel’s arrival at Stamford Bridge in January, and the player’s partner, Leah Monroe, slammed the German manager’s decision beforevkick-off at Wembley.

‘How on earth do you make the decision to leave your top goalscorer out of the squad for a final?’ Monroe posted on her Instagram stories before deleting the message.

‘The same person who even scored the goals to actually qualify for this competition? ‘It’s not making any sense whatsoever.’

Leicester City went on to win the FA Cup for the first time in their history courtesy of Youri Tielemans’ stunning second-half goal.

Addressing the defeat on social media, Abraham conceded the result ‘hurts’ as he thanked the club fans for their support.

‘It hurts but we still have unfinished business,’ Abraham said. ‘Thank you for your support, good to have you back ?.’

When asked if Abraham wasn’t a player for him, Tuchel told Stadium Astro after the cup defeat: ‘No, it’s just hard decisions on a matchday when you can only nominate 18 players.’

Looking ahead, Chelsea who are currently in fourth place in the table, still have huge games against Leicester and Aston Villa coming up as they look to secure a place in the top-four.

The blues also have a Champions League final against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to look forward to in Porto on May 29.
