Sergio Aguero picks the best between Lampard, Scholes & Gerrard

Sergio Aguero has weighed in on the Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard debate, and also named the best defender he played against in the Premier League.

Aguero enjoyed an incredible 10-year spell in England’s top flight at Manchester City, which came to an end last summer when he left the club to join Barcelona.

The Argentine forward won a number of major honours including five Premier League titles at the Etihad, while becoming became City’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals.

During his time at Man City, the striker faced some of the best talent football has had to offer.

In a Twitter Q&A session, Aguero was asked to choose between Lampard, Scholes and Gerrard – three of the finest midfielders to ever grace the Premier League.

The 33-year-old went for Lampard, Chelsea’s record goalscorer who netted an outstanding 177 times in the league.

However, Aguero stuck with another former Chelsea player when quizzed on the best central defender he played against in England, naming John Terry.

He was also tasked with picking his favourite Arsenal and Liverpool players, the player went for Thierry Henry and Michael Owen respectively.

Aguero was forced to retire from football last year after being diagnosed with a heart issue. Discussing his health during a recent Twitch stream, Aguero said: ‘If I try to play football now, I run out of breath.

‘Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be able to sprint again. I just feel like my heart doesn’t work properly.’ ‘The first 15 days I had a terrible time,’ Aguero previously said on Twitch.

‘When it happened, I thought it was nothing and that I was going to be fine, but when I arrived in the hospital and they left me in a small room alone with a lot of monitors around me.

‘I realised something was bad. And after two days hospitalised, I started to become nervous.’
