David Alaba told to lower his huge wage demands to sign for Chelsea

Chelsea are trying to get Bayern Munich defender David Alaba to agree to lower his huge wage demands before continuing in their approach to sign him, according to reports.

The 28-year-old is out of contract with Bayern Munich in the summer wimdow and with no sign of penning a new deal, the Austrian defender looks all but set to join a new club.

Despite boasting an outstanding career which has seen him lift a mouthwatering 25-major trophies, Alaba has found possible suitors limited due to his astronomical wage demands.

Although he has been linked with several big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, but ot remains to be seen which team he will join eventually.

According to The Telegraph, David Alaba is demanding to be paid a truly staggering figure of just below £400,000-per week in wages.

That would make him Chelsea’s highest paid player by a clear distance, with N’Golo Kante the current top earner at Stamford Bridge on around £295,000-per-week.

Alaba plays central midfield for his country Austria but he’s transitioned from playing as a left-back to a centre-back for Bayern Munich in recent years.

Alaba’s huge salary demands have put a possible move to Chelsea in doubt. The Blues are expected to renew Thiago Silva’s contract but in order to land the Bayern defender, he will have to agree to accept lower wages.
