Aleksandr Golovin is in talks with Chelsea over a transfer to Stamford Bridge, the midfielder’s mother has confirmed.
Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a £27million move for Golovin, who has been key for Russia at the World Cup.
Golovin helped Russia cause a huge upset against Spain in the last-16 as they progressed past the 2010 World Cup winners to reach the next round.
Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Golovin, but it seems Chelsea will get the player over their Premier League rivals.
‘Yes, now there are talks between the clubs, but we still do not know the details,’ Golovin’s mother, Svetlana, said.
‘Sacha right now stands only for the Russian team, fully focused on the World Cup. The transition from one club to another will only be discussed after it is completed here.
‘For now, everyone loves my Sacha, even those who before didn’t care about football. His biggest fan is his 83-year-old grandmother – she does not miss a single match.’
Golovin’s family have already dropped hints on his future, with the World Cup star’s father also revealing his son was learning English.
CSKA Moscow are thought to be open to selling the Russia international, but have already knocked back bids from Juventus.
According to reports, Chelsea assured CSKA they would meet their asking price, while Juventus has moved on to other targets after talks broke down between both clubs.
The 22-year-old is under contract with CSKA until 2021, but is keen to move to another country after spending his entire professional career in Russia.
No deal is expected go through until after Russia are eliminated from the World Cup, with the hosts set to take on Croatia.
