Trent Alexander-Arnold makes pick for best player in the world

Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold has made his selection for the top footballer in the world – but surprisingly, it’s not his Liverpool teammate Mo Salah.

Though he favored Salah over a Tottenham legend, he couldn’t bring himself to crown the Egyptian sensation as the global champion.

During his downtime due to injury, the Liverpool star participated in a ‘football bracket’ challenge hosted by JD Sports on TikTok.

This challenge involves participants narrowing down a list of 16 players to their ultimate favorite through a knockout tournament format, pitting stars against each other.

In Alexander-Arnold’s final matchup, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo faced off, and he wasted no time in declaring his preference.

Without hesitation, he gestured toward Messi’s photo, signifying his belief that the Argentine star reigns as the greatest player in the world.

Salah was eliminated in the semi-finals by Ronaldo, a decision that Alexander-Arnold seemed hesitant about, while Messi had triumphed over Karim Benzema.

Nevertheless, Salah, absent from Liverpool’s recent 4-1 victory over Luton at Anfield, might not feel too disappointed.

In Alexander-Arnold’s hypothetical universe, Salah secured a significant victory over Harry Kane in the round of 16, a result likely to irk Tottenham fans.

Alexander-Arnold is expected to return around early March after suffering yet another knee injury.

This setback marks his third injury of the season, prompting some fans to question Liverpool’s medical staff amidst ongoing concerns for Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Conor Bradley has admirably stepped in for Alexander-Arnold, injecting creativity into the right-back position, but the absence of their vice-captain is sorely felt.

As a result, he will miss the upcoming clash with Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final this Sunday, despite proving his ability to shine in pivotal moments this season, such as his goal against Manchester City.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was tasked with selecting his favorite player through a series of head-to-head matchups.
