Amad created incredible piece of Man Utd history vs Southampton which can never be repeated

Amad etched his name into Manchester United’s history books on Thursday night, recording his 12th Premier League goal involvement of the season in their 3-1 triumph over Southampton.

The 22-year-old, who has been United’s standout performer this season, prevented his team from suffering a fourth consecutive home defeat with a remarkable 12-minute hat-trick in front of the Stretford End. ..Continue Reading

Southampton dominated much of the game as Ruben Amorim’s side struggled against Tyler Dibling, Mateus Fernandes, and Kamaldeen Sulmana, who made Leny Yoro appear distinctly average throughout.

However, as he has done so often this season, the in-form Amad delivered when his team needed him most, netting a memorable hat-trick to secure a less-than-convincing three points.

As a result, the Ivorian forward became the youngest Manchester United player to score a Premier League hat-trick since Wayne Rooney, who was 21 years and four days old when he scored one against Bolton in 2006.

Amad also made history by registering his 12th Premier League goal involvement of the season, making him the first African player to achieve more than ten Premier League goal involvements in a single campaign for United.

After scoring his sixth league goal of the season, the Ivorian described the past week as one of the best of his life.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the full-time whistle, he said: “In football, you have to believe it and we believed until the end. We are very happy to win this game because we draw against Liverpool and Arsenal, so the confidence was there.

“We have quality players in this team. We need sometimes to be more hungry in the final third, and today we showed at the end we were the best team on the pitch. I’m so happy for the win today because this team deserved it.”

He added: “I’m ready to play every position. I’m ready to play right wing back, No. 10, wherever the manager likes to put me. I’m ready to fight for this club, so I never matter where I am. I’m so happy to play where the manager wanted me to play.

“I’m so happy to score a hat-trick and the most important thing is the win for the club.”
