Davies, now 24, is in the final year of his contract with Bayern, which could allow him to leave as a free agent at the end of the season.
While Real Madrid is keen to bring Davies to Spain, Manchester United’s interest has intensified in recent months.
Despite Madrid’s appeal as a top destination, United demonstrated their ability to secure key signings by bringing Leny Yoro to Old Trafford last summer, even though Madrid was initially his preferred choice.
Rumors of Davies agreeing to a pre-contract with Real Madrid have been dismissed, and it’s still possible he could extend his stay with Bayern.
Currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League, Manchester United is hoping for a swift turnaround under Amorim, who is set to debut as head coach against Ipswich Town on Sunday.
Known for favoring a 3-4-3 system, which he successfully employed at Sporting Lisbon, Amorim is expected to implement tactical changes at United.
Wing-backs play a crucial role in this setup, and reports suggest he views Davies as the ideal fit for the left-wing-back position.
In addition to Davies, Amorim has shown interest in Sporting Lisbon’s striker Viktor Gyökeres. While a January move for the forward has been ruled out, the club could pursue him next summer.
United’s left-back situation has been problematic since the start of last season. Luke Shaw, for instance, has only made 13 appearances since August 2023 due to ongoing injuries.
Although he hasn’t featured this season, Shaw returned to training this week and was deployed as a left-sided center-back during sessions under Amorim, a position he briefly occupied under Erik ten Hag.
Meanwhile, Tyrell Malacia has also returned to training, taking up the left wing-back role.
The Dutch international hasn’t played for the first team since May 2023 due to persistent knee issues, although he gained some match fitness with the Under-21 squad last week as he works toward a full recovery.
