The former Real Madrid midfielder has been the subject of transfer speculation over the past year, and his situation has become even more precarious with Amorim’s arrival.
At 32, Casemiro has only featured in six matches under the Portuguese manager and has not played in United’s last four league games.
And Amorim has since revealed that the Brazilian midfielder can no longer cope with the physical demands of the Premier League.
He said: “Sometimes it’s a lot of that. It’s also a player’s moment. We understand that Casemiro has other things nowadays.
“The intelligence he has, understanding the game, understanding where the ball is going to fall but we’re in a league that I can see, even in European competitions, the difference in intensity is big. And so, I feel that this team also needs players with a very high intensity. And sometimes we don’t have that and sometimes that difference in characteristic can lead one player or another to play.”
Amorim added: “Even the fact that the group has a certain characteristic as a group. I needed some players in certain positions with a slightly different pace. But we all know the quality Casemiro has and everything he won. And so, I have nothing to say about that. It’s just a choice.”
It appears that Casemiro is likely to depart from Old Trafford soon, given that he has only 18 months remaining on the lucrative contract he signed in 2022.
Several clubs have shown interest in acquiring his services. Saudi club Al-Nassr stands out as a prominent contender, especially following a recommendation from former United star Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, it’s uncertain if Casemiro is their top priority, as Al-Nassr is also pursuing strikers like Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, both linked with significant moves to the Middle East.
Besiktas has also expressed interest in Casemiro, with former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly leading a potential bid.
Additionally, Italian giants Roma are in the mix for Casemiro, with reports indicating that he has already approved a potential transfer to Serie A.
