Ruben Amorim identifies first transfer as unwanted star lines up move

Meanwhile, both Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.

The 22-year-old Hungarian international has been a standout performer for the Cherries this season.

The left-back’s consistent displays, including two assists in Bournemouth’s recent 2-1 victory over Manchester City, have not gone unnoticed by top Premier League clubs.

A report from Relevo claims that United and Liverpool are interested in Kerkez, who joined Bournemouth for £15.5 million.

Although no price has been quoted for a potential transfer, it’s expected that the Cherries would demand a significantly higher fee given the player’s age and potential.

United have faced challenges on the left side of their defense this season due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

As a result, right-back Diogo Dalot has been deputizing in the role. While Malacia has recently returned after a lengthy 17-month injury absence, United are still exploring long-term solutions, including Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are reportedly seeking a successor to Andy Robertson, whose performances have dipped this season.

As Manchester United prepare for their first transfer window under Ruben Amorim, it remains unclear if funds will be made available in January.

However, whether in the winter or summer, Kerkez’s profile aligns with the type of player United are keen to secure for the future.

Kerkez’s performance against Manchester City, where he delivered both assists, earned high praise from Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, highlighting his growing reputation in the Premier League.

He said: “For me it’s very important how he closed the game because a lot of times we’ve had to sub him because he was not finishing with the same energy. I think he’s adding these small things to his game to finish strong, do your job defensively, suffer even when you are tired and the team needs you there.”
