Ruben Amorim scraps Ten Hag rule at Man Utd that all players must follow for Arsenal game

Manchester United are revamping their matchday preparations this season following a strategic shift introduced by manager Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils kick off their Premier League campaign on Sunday with a high-profile clash against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at Old Trafford. ..Continue Reading

This marks Amorim’s first full pre-season in charge, having taken over from Erik ten Hag last November.

Under Ten Hag, players were required to arrive at the stadium four hours before kick-off, each driving themselves and dining individually at Old Trafford.

He even converted a hospitality suite into a designated pre-match lounge for the squad.

Amorim has opted for a more unified approach. For the 2025/26 season, players will now gather at Carrington, where they’ll share a pre-match meal before heading to the stadium together as a team.

United have confirmed their scheduled arrival time at Old Trafford will be 2:45pm (UK time) ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

“I always had the feeling that we arrive at Old Trafford and Old Trafford must be the centre of the game, but we cannot spend four hours there waiting for the game,” Amorim told the club’s website.

“And I feel with these facilities [at Carrington] we can be here, preparing for the game away from Old Trafford and when we arrive at Old Trafford, we have to feel the fans and then go directly to the game, not killing the momentum of the connection with our fans.

“We know that we have a lot of people waiting there for us, to be with the players and to sign autographs. We will try to do the same.”

Amorim added: “So, it’s going to be the same experience for the fans.

“But for us it’s going to be better because we are going to feel, nearer the game, the momentum with the fans and we will spend less time in there.”
