However, it is believed that the Red Devils’ head coach has identified six players as “unsellable” as he begins his long-term rebuilding project at Old Trafford. ..Continue Reading
Amorim aims to start reshaping his squad as soon as possible to implement his new philosophy.
United, however, are facing severe financial restrictions this winter due to Premier League and UEFA regulations, following their £600 million spending spree over less than three years for Ten Hag.
The club is currently on thin ice concerning Financial Fair Play, making player sales crucial for bolstering Amorim’s options.
Several first-team players, including Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Mason Greenwood, were sold in the summer.
Ten Hag added five new players worth around £200 million, creating a squad primarily made up of his signings.
Despite this, Amorim wants to make significant changes as early as the new year, with United reportedly supporting his plans.
According to Sky Germany, the Red Devils agree with Amorim that over half of the squad should be put up for sale.
If suitable offers are made, the club will listen to them, allowing Amorim to initiate a ruthless rebuild.
There is an understanding that urgent sales are needed, although six players are considered off-limits, as they fit into the 39-year-old’s plans.
The report lists Andre Onana, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad as the untouchable players.
It is also suggested that two or three other key players are not available for transfer, as Amorim wants to retain a core group of talent.
United are currently not expected to be active in January, with Amorim remaining tight-lipped about the club’s plans.
“We don’t think about that because we have so many games,” Amorim explained at the start of the month.
“It’s something to think about when the window opens, and you can do something. I don’t know. I’ll have to talk to them about that, with the board.
“But in this moment, the focus is trying to win some games and to put this team in a better position in all competitions, so we’ll have time to do that. But we’ll see what happens in January.”
