Ruben Amorim has reportedly informed Manchester United of the players he’d like to bring to the club as they work on securing him as Erik ten Hag’s successor.
Following United’s defeat to West Ham, which left them 14th in the Premier League after nine games, Ten Hag was dismissed on Monday.

United are moving swiftly to finalize a deal for the 39-year-old, who had previously attracted interest from Liverpool and West Ham.
They can acquire him for just €10 million (£8.3 million) in compensation due to a contract loophole from his recent extension, which otherwise includes a €30 million release clause valid until June 2026.
Amorim is expected to bring his coaching team to help establish his methods, and according to TEAMtalk, he also aims to bring three Sporting players with him.
While United recently signed two players in the same position, Amorim views 23-year-old center-back Goncalo Inacio as a priority addition. The Liverpool target has a £51 million release clause in his contract.
Winger Marcus Edwards, a former Spurs academy player now in Portugal, is also on Amorim’s radar. United have struggled to generate wide-area creativity, and Edwards could help address that.
Amorim is also close to another winger, Pedro Goncalves, who briefly played for Wolves and has consistently impressive goal-scoring stats. Sporting would demand a high fee for the 26-year-old and are reluctant to let him go mid-season.
In a statement, Sporting acknowledged United’s interest in Amorim, though recent reports suggest he may continue managing Sporting until November, as his notice period requires a few weeks.
Amorim has won two Portuguese league titles and three Taca da Liga trophies in his career, drawing comparisons to Jose Mourinho.
