Doubts have been raised about whether the current players are compatible with the style of play the coach intends to implement. He has firmly stated his commitment to the 3-4-3 formation that brought him success at Sporting.
As part of this strategy, the 39-year-old is expected to phase out older, less dynamic players in favor of younger, more energetic options over the next few transfer windows.
One of the first changes will reportedly involve Christian Eriksen, whose contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of the season, according to Sky Germany.
Eriksen is expected to leave Old Trafford either in January or by the summer, with Celtic emerging as a potential destination. However, his salary demands may pose a challenge for the Scottish champions.
The report also indicates that United are working hard to recruit both a defensive midfielder and a creative attacking player.
It remains unclear how the club will approach the January transfer window, though additional reports suggest the manager is also targeting a new left-back.
Additionally, a striker appears to be high on the priority list, with Viktor Gyökeres frequently mentioned as a possible target.
Amorim asserted his authority over the club’s transfer strategy in his first press conference at Man United this month, saying: “I think it has to be all together.
“If you are a coach that is coming here and already chose the players he could be wrong. This is a football club that will be here for a long time and you as a coach don’t know that. Everybody has to work together.
“For that, we have to improve the process on recruitment, the data, the profile of players we want, but I have to have a strong position on that because I am the coach. I know how to play, so I think it’s all together but the final word should be the manager.”
