Ruben Amorim transfer lists two Man Utd players ahead of January window after latest defeat

Ruben Amorim might be poised to let two first-team players leave Manchester United as early as the January transfer window.

Amorim, 39, witnessed a lackluster performance from his United squad on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

This defeat kept United in 13th place in the Premier League, having won only six of their 17 league matches this season. ..Continue Reading

While many poor results occurred during Erik ten Hag’s tenure, Amorim has seen his team secure just one victory in their last four top-flight games.

This situation is likely troubling for the Portuguese manager, who may look to trim his squad during the winter transfer window.

Marcus Rashford, 27, was omitted from United’s 20-man matchday squad, with a surprising new club emerging as the frontrunner for his signature.

Last week, Rashford told journalist Henry Winter that he feels “ready for a new challenge” after being left out of Amorim’s squad ahead of the 2-1 victory over Manchester City on December 15.

He has since been excluded from the matchday squads for the 4-3 Carabao Cup loss to Spurs on Thursday, as well as the recent Premier League match.

Additionally, two other first-team players could depart in the January transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s GiveMeSport newsletter, both Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are ‘available’ for a move in the winter window.

“[Christian Eriksen and [Victor] Lindelof are available for the January market, but at the moment, there’s still nothing concrete,” Romano explained. “For sure, both are players who could be available in January.”

Eriksen, 32, has featured in only nine Premier League matches this season and was left on the bench during yesterday’s defeat to Bournemouth.

Lindelof’s tenure at United has been plagued by injuries, with his latest occurring in the first half of last Thursday’s cup match against Spurs.

At 30 years old, Lindelof did not make it into the matchday squad on Sunday.

Both players have contracts expiring on June 30, 2025, allowing them to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs starting January 1, 2025.

According to Caught Offside, United would prefer to sell the Swedish international in January, aiming to recover some of the £31 million (as reported by BBC Sport) spent on him when he transferred from Benfica in the summer of 2017.

The report indicates that the club would seek €7-8 million (£5.8-6.6 million) in January, with interest from clubs like West Ham United, Newcastle United, and Everton.
