On Wednesday, new reports emerged suggesting that the 65-year-old has reopened talks to leave Madrid.
According to Globo, Ancelotti is engaging in discussions to take over as the manager of the Brazilian national team.
On social media, they wrote: “The CBF (Brazilian FA) has already resumed contacts with the aim of having Carlo Ancelotti in charge of the National Team at the 2026 World Cup.
“The Real coach was receptive to the contact, but warned that any progress would be conditional on waiting until the end of the Club World Cup.”
Spanish publication Relevo has corroborated the report initially shared by Globo, asserting that the move will not take place until after the Club World Cup this summer.
In January 2024, Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged that he had engaged in discussions with Brazil regarding the managerial role.
He said: “The reality is what everyone knows. I had contact with the [now former] president of the Brazilian federation, Ednaldo Rodrigues. I want to thank him for his affection and interest, it made me very proud, but what’s clear to everyone is it depends on my situation at Real Madrid. I’m grateful for the interest but in the end, it turned out how I wanted: staying here.”
Further expanding on his future, the Madrid manager said: “I want to be very clear: I will never decide the date of my departure from this club in my life. I know perfectly well that it will come one day, but I will not decide that day.”
Meanwhile, Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario told Charla Podcast (MARCA): “It was not a fantasy because I helped in the process by talking to Carlo, but he was not released. Real Madrid did not release him.
“After negotiating everything got stuck because he didn’t have Real Madrid’s release. If he hadn’t won anything, Real Madrid would have fired him and Ancelotti would have come, but he won the Champions League and stayed for another year.”
On Tuesday night, Brazil were thrashed 4-1 by Argentina, leaving them fourth in the South American qualifying standings for the 2026 World Cup.
