The Brazilian made only nine appearances under the Portuguese coach, mostly as a wing-back, before securing a six-month loan move to Real Betis.

Since joining Manuel Pellegrini’s team, Antony has started three games, scoring twice and providing one assist.

The 24-year-old found the net during Real Betis’ 3-0 win against Gent in the first leg of the Conference League play-off round.

After the match, he took a dig at United fans by stating that Los Verdiblancos’ supporters ‘never stop supporting’ the team.

Speaking to the media, Antony said: “In my heart, I knew that I would be very happy at Betis, I was sure about that. This win goes for the fans, they never stop supporting us.”

Having started and starred in all three of his matches under Pellegrini, one would expect Antony to be a starter yet again when Real Betis face Real Sociedad on Sunday.
