Arsenal have made an approach to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Mila, according to reports.

The Gunners are looking to sign a new striker before the end of this summer window but are reliant on selling Alexandre Lacazette first.

Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham is on Arsenal’s shortlist but the Champions League holders want a £40 million transfer fee.

Now, Arsenal are looking at alternatives and according to The Telegraph, the London club have made an inquiry to Inter Milan about Martinez.

The report claims that Mikel Arteta is considering the Argentine star as one of his options for a new striker but Inter want to keep the player at San Siro.

Earlier this month, reports emerged that Inter were willing to sell Martinez if their €90m (£77m) asking price was met by any team.

Martinez, who scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists in 48 matches last season, still has two years left on his current contract.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are open to offers for Lacazette and would sell the Frenchman if they received an offer of £15m.

The 30-year-old, who scored 13 goals in the Premier League last campaign, has only one year remaining on his current contract at the Emirates.

Abraham is reportedly open to the prospect of joining Arsenal but Chelsea will not allow him to leave until their £40m valuation is met.

The Blues are understood to be willing to allow Abraham join Arsenal on an initial loan deal but a compulsory purchase option of £40m would need to be included.
