Arsenal line up huge summer move for Chelsea star

Arsenal have added Southampton striker Armando Broja to their list of transfer targets with the club desperate to sign a striker this summer.

The Gunners were unable to land Dusan Vlahovic during the January transfer window with the Serbian forward instead leaving Fiorentina to join Juventus.

Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak is the club’s alternative option – although he is said to only be keen to make the move to the Emirates if Arsenal secure Champions League qualification this campaign.

While Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another option under consideration, football.london claim Mikel Arteta greatly admirers Broja.

On loan from Chelsea, Broja has scored eight goals in just 15 starts this campaign since arriving at the club, tormenting Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane during Southampton’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

The report adds that they will seek to make three major signings this summer. With a striker at the top of their list with Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah also expected to leave, the club also plan to sign a midfielder and a right-back.

Reports have suggested Southampton will make a club record bid to sign Broja on a permanent transfer before his loan ends but Tuchel has suggested he could still have a big future at Stamford Bridge.

‘He is our player, he is doing good. But at the same time, it is only halfway through the season, so he needs to continue to improve and make his statement at Southampton,’ Tuchel told a press conference in January.

‘We have a reason why they are our players, they have quality and a mentality and now they are out there on their own in different environments at different clubs.

‘Armando is getting better and better. ‘He is a very unique player with very unique strengths: speed, strong, robust and a goal scorer. Now is not the time to talk about summer.

‘Now is the moment for him to stay calm and keep on improving.’
