The Norwegian, once a highly-touted talent, had struggled to establish himself at the Santiago Bernabéu despite Real beating out top European clubs for his signature.
His career seemed to be stalling, with concerns he might become another unfulfilled prospect.
After making just nine appearances in the first half of the 2020/21 season, Ødegaard was loaned to Arsenal, where he flourished.
He eventually made a permanent move for £30 million, going on to become the club captain and one of the best creative midfielders in the world.
Now, it seems Mikel Arteta is looking to replicate that success. According to Sport, Arsenal are interested in Real Madrid youngster Arda Güler and could make a move during the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old Turkish midfielder joined Real Madrid in 2023 for €20 million but has struggled to secure regular game time under Carlo Ancelotti.
Despite being available for 48 matches, he has only made 24 appearances, leaving him frustrated with his lack of opportunities.
Although Güler is tied to a contract with Real until 2029 and is viewed as a player for the future, his dissatisfaction has drawn the attention of several clubs, including Arsenal. Reports suggest the North London side has already initiated contact with his representatives.
While Güler ideally wants to succeed at Real Madrid, he is reportedly contemplating his situation. Arsenal are ready to offer him a fresh start if he chooses to move on.
The Turkish international showcased his talent at Euro 2024, where he became one of only three teenagers, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, to score and assist in the tournament.
