Arsenal are ready to offer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a £250,000-a-week deal after Mikel Arteta urged the gunners to agree terms with the player.

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal have now responded to Mikel Arteta’s request and are ready to give Aubameyang a new contract.

Arsenal are ready to give Aubameyang a £250,000-a-week contract, which is believed to be the exact figure the striker demanded.

The Gabonese forward currently earns £198,000 per week at the Emirates and will become a free agent in 12 months if he refuses to sign a new deal.

Even if he accepts the offer, he will still be behind Mesut Ozil, who is their top earner on a £350,000-a-week deal.

Although it is still unknown if Aubameyang will accept the new deal, Arteta has formed a good relationship with the forward since replacing Emery at Arsenal.

The 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Tuesday will not help the gunners, who must persuade Aubameyang to stay at the club.

Arteta wants Aubameyang to stay at Arsenal but is unhappy with the delay over contract talks.

‘When I was talking about the uncertain things that we have on the table, obviously he’s one of them,’ Arteta said.

‘With Auba, I think I’ve been very clear with what I want. The quicker we do it, for me personally, the better because the player will be more focused, more determined and more calm.

‘But we have to respect the timings as well as the needs of the football club.’
