Arsenal ‘to smash player’s release clause’ to get deal for world-class forward done

Arsenal are reportedly preparing to activate a player’s release clause, which would send shockwaves through the Premier League.

As the January transfer deadline approaches, fans across the nation are eagerly monitoring their team’s final moves in the transfer window.

Arteta’s squad has yet to make any signings during the winter window, but after their impressive 5-1 victory against Manchester City on Sunday, the Gunners boss likely feels confident in his current roster. ..Continue Reading

Arsenal have been linked with Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel, a player also attracting interest from Spurs, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

On Sunday, it seemed that United had secured his signature according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

However, Plettenberg later reported that the deal had fallen through.

“There is still some time left,” he wrote on X. “Arsenal are also in talks with Bayern.

“The Bundesliga side still want to sell him or let him go with an obligation to buy, but it continues to depend on the right offer.

“There should be no panic sale, which is why Bayern have not ruled out the possibility of him staying. More talks with clubs are scheduled in the next 1–3 hours.”

However, it is not Tel whose release clause might be activated.

According to Football Transfers, Athletic Club and Spain winger Nico Williams “tops Arteta’s shortlist” for the end of the season.

The report states that Arsenal attempted to sign the 22-year-old during the winter window, showing “a willingness to match the player’s release clause,” but couldn’t finalize the deal. The Spain international is reportedly “ready to accept the Gunners’ offer in the summer.”

The Athletic previously mentioned that Williams’ release clause is approximately €60m (£49m).

Williams made a significant impact during Spain’s Euro 2024 winning campaign last summer, but he has struggled to replicate his tournament performances for Athletic in La Liga.

This season, the 22-year-old has managed just one goal and three assists for the club. His current contract runs until June 2027.
