Mikel Arteta names team to win Premier League title

Mikel Arteta is optimistic about Arsenal’s chances to make further title race history when they meet Manchester United at Old Trafford this coming weekend.

In a pivotal Premier League clash on Sunday, Arsenal will take on their longstanding adversaries, aiming for a victory that would extend the title race to the last weekend.

Arsenal has a notable track record of securing crucial victories at Manchester United during decisive moments of the title race.

This includes memorable triumphs like Marc Overmars’ decisive goal that paved the way for their Premier League victory in the 1997/98 season, and Sylvain Wiltord’s goal that sealed the championship at Old Trafford in 2002.

Asked at his pre-match press conference whether his players can take inspiration from past achievements, Arteta said: “Every game has a different context. We know our history [at Old Trafford] how we have done over there, so we are going to have to be at our best to win the game.

“We know what we need to do, but first we have to perform at a high level to deserve to win the match. That is where the focus is.”

Arsenal currently holds a slender lead over Manchester City in the title chase, albeit having played an additional match.

Arteta acknowledges that the outcome of the Premier League is beyond their grasp, and he has called on Arsenal to concentrate solely on their own performances.

“It leaves us in a very clear situation. We have to focus and do what have to do to be in the best possible situation. That’s what we are doing. We have to think that it is going to work and we can be better than our opponent and beat them.

“The final outcome might be something else, but that is not in our control.”
