The CEO of Atletico Madrid, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, has calmly revealed that Frenchman Antoine Griezmann will be playing at the Camp Nou next campaign.
The France international’s future at Atletico has been much of a debate this summer, but it has now been confirmed that he will be a Barcelona player ahead of next season.
When asked about the French forward’s future team, Gil Marin said: “I know exactly where he’s going to play. I’ve known since march. In Barcelona,” he told Radio Estadio.
“There are players who feel they are greater than the squad, we have to form a group of men,” hinting at Griezmann wanting out.
After France’s last game against Andorra, Griezmann said: “You need to be a little patient. It’s too soon. I’m the first person who wants to say my future plans but at the moment we have to wait.
“I don’t know if I’ll remain in Spain. Maybe in two weeks we’ll know something. I just want to play football and have fun.”
“I want my future to be decided more than anyone, but there’s a need to wait.
It appears now that his next team been announced sooner than expected – and not from Antoine Griezmann himself.
Griezmann was born in France and spent most of his career in La Liga – joined Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2014.
Since signing for Atletico, he has won the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Supercopa de Espana at the club.
The French forward netted 15 league goals as Atletico finished only second behind Barcelona in 2018-19, while he was able to score 21 goals in all competitions.
