‘I’m home!’ – Aubameynag takes swipe at Arsenal after Barcelona move

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has appeared to take a dig at Arsenal by saying he is ‘at home’ at Barcelona after his transfer move last month.

The striker signed a three-and-a-half year contract at the Nou Camp on February 2, having left the London club by mutual consent the day before.

The Gabonese forward has made a strong start to life at Barcelona, scoring five goals in his first six matches for the Catalan side.

‘Things are going very well with Xavi,’ Aubameyang told Bein Sports France. ‘He is a legend and will contribute many things to the club.

‘Barca deserves to be in front and I am very happy there because I am at home. I’m Spanish for my mother’s sake. ‘My grandfather was from Atletico and I just hope that wherever he is, he will be proud of me for playing in the league.

‘The league is a good competition for me because it allows me to utilise my qualities. ‘When you enter Camp Nou it’s something! Another dimension. I really enjoy it.’

Aubameyang scored 92 goals in 163 games for Arsenal, but left the Emirates under a cloud after being stripped of the captaincy by Mikel Arteta.

His final appearance for the club came on December 6 and he was relieved of the armband that same month after his ‘latest disciplinary breach’.

The 32-year-old got off the mark at Barca with a hat-trick against Valencia in his fourth game and has followed that up with goals against Napoli and Athletic Bilbao.

Aubameyang also confirmed in his interview that he had contact with PSG and a club in Italy before eventually moving to Nou Camp.
