A Spanish court initially blocked the club’s effort to register their £60 million signing, Dani Olmo, for the latter part of the season. Although the issue was later resolved, allowing Olmo to play, it hindered any substantial transfer business in January.
In recent years, Barcelona has heavily relied on promoting talent from their famed La Masia academy, with players like Pau Cubarsi, Gavi, Lamine Yamal, and Marc Casado breaking into the first team.
However, some of the latest prospects might have to leave for free this summer, as Barcelona would only receive limited compensation under FIFA regulations.
Spanish outlet Sport claims up to 10 young players could depart on free transfers by the end of June. Among them, winger Arnau Pradas has drawn significant attention, particularly from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Other key names, such as U19 top scorer Hugo Alba, midfielder Adrian Gill, and right-back Tomas Marques, are also nearing the end of their contracts.
Additionally, Jofre Torrents, Quim Junyent, and Brian Farinas are recognized as having the potential to join the first team.
Adrian Gill, who has represented the United States at youth level, has expressed his aspiration to feature for the senior team at the 2026 World Cup.
Thus far, Barcelona has made minimal efforts to renew these players’ contracts, though this situation is reportedly unrelated to the club’s financial challenges.
Last October, Arsenal was linked with a move for Pradas, one of the brightest talents in his age group.
Mikel Arteta, a former Barcelona youth player himself, is particularly eager to secure the 18-year-old winger, known for his “futsal-like technique” and ability to play on either flank.
