However, recent reports suggest that Barcelona is looking to further strengthen their squad and are willing to swap two players to secure their target.
According to a Spanish outlet via TeamTalk, Barcelona is keen on signing Chelsea’s midfield star Enzo Fernandez and is even willing to offer Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres as part of the deal for the Argentine.
Fernandez, who completed a £107 million transfer to Chelsea nearly two years ago, is one of the most expensive players in Premier League history.
But Barcelona reportedly hopes to avoid a direct transfer fee by including two of their own players in the deal.
De Jong and Torres originally cost Barcelona a combined £115 million, but their recent poor form means they are no longer valued at that amount.
Transfermarkt values De Jong at £49.3 million, while Torres is estimated to be worth £24.6 million.
At the beginning of the season, new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca seemed to indicate that Fernandez was not part of his starting lineup plans, opting instead for a partnership between Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo.
However, Fernandez has made himself indispensable by scoring three goals and providing six assists in his last six games across all competitions.
Additionally, he has contributed to at least one goal in each of his last five Premier League appearances.
Overall, Fernandez has made 19 appearances for Chelsea this season and is reportedly considered by the club as a player who is not for sale either in January or the summer transfer window.
