The Real Madrid midfielder believed he had leveled the score at 2-2 in the closing minutes, but the goal was overturned due to a controversial handball decision against Levi Colwill, who had jumped to meet a set-piece. ..Continue Reading
Bellingham started the match on the bench in England’s first friendly under Thomas Tuchel but was brought on with 19 minutes left as the team trailed 2-1.
Harry Kane had given England an early lead, but Senegal responded with goals from Ismaila Sarr and Habib Diarra, shifting the momentum in their favor.
After Bellingham’s goal was ruled out, Cheikh Sabaly sealed the victory for Senegal with a stoppage-time strike.
Frustrated by the decision, Bellingham vented his anger by kicking a water cooler in the technical area at full-time before rushing to confront the assistant referee.
Captain Kane had to step in, guiding Bellingham back onto the pitch to diffuse the situation.
While the referee was reviewing Bellingham’s goal on the VAR screen, former Arsenal player Lee Dixon told ITV: “That’s completely not a deliberate handball. Oh, she’s going to disallow it, the ref’s going to disallow this.”
And he added: “That’s not a deliberate handball. The twisting of his arm is because he is challenging for the ball. I don’t agree with that decision.”
Meanwhile, Kane explained after the game: “If you know the rules, it’s not handball. That gets us back in the game and maybe we can go on and win the game, so it’s a big moment. It’s something we will discuss later.”
Bellingham has been blasted for his fiery personality in the past and was sent off for Real Madrid in March 2024 after protesting to the referee when he blew the full-time whistle just before the 21-year-old had headed the ball into the net.
In February, he was caught on television telling an assistant referee to “f*** off” in a La Liga match for Real Madrid.
Reports suggest that the English midfielder was involved in a heated exchange with his Real Madrid teammate Antonio Rudiger during a training session in April.
The confrontation, which occurred just days before their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal, escalated to the point where teammates had to step in and separate them.
