In addition to his Olympic achievements, Bolt also boasts 11 World Championship gold medals.
In 2023, he disclosed that there was one Premier League star who he thought had the speed to surpass him in a race.
While speaking on talkSPORT, former player Darren Bent asked: “I read an article where you said that [Marcus] Rashford could beat you over 20 yards, is that correct?”
To which Bolt replied: “Yeah! Rashford is quick out the blocks, that is what he does.
“He has that burst of speed but after that, I told him, you could probably get me in 20 [yards]. But after that, it is over!”
Since making his breakthrough into Manchester United’s first team, Marcus Rashford has been recognized for his speed and skill, thriving as a winger.
However, in recent years, the 27-year-old has struggled to recapture his best form.
After falling out of favor under Ruben Amorim, Rashford departed Old Trafford, securing a loan move to Aston Villa for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Since linking up with Unai Emery, the English forward has shown flashes of his former brilliance.
According to UEFA, Rashford hit a top speed of 34.32 km/h in the Champions League. For comparison, Britannica reports that in 2011, scientists recorded Usain Bolt reaching a top speed of 43.99 km/h during a 100m sprint.
So far this season, Rashford has registered three goals and four assists in 11 appearances across all competitions.
When asked about Rashford’s recent performances, Villa manager Emery said: “Keep going is the message for him.
“Playing more minutes means he’s getting physically better, he’s scoring more goals. We’re playing him as a striker and trying to compete with Watkins. Maybe going forward we can play them together.”
Aston Villa are back in Premier League action on Saturday when they face Nottingham Forest at Villa Park.
