Brazil players from Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool & Man City cleared to play this weekend

Brazil

Fifa has cleared Brazilian stars to play in Premier League this weekend along with those from Chile, Mexico and Paraguay after a late breakthrough on Friday.

Ahead of the international break, Premier League teams voted ‘reluctantly but unanimously’ to prevent their players from traveling for games which would be held in nations that are on the UK’s red list.

As a result of the decision, Brazil’s FA moved to stop players who were not allowed to return to South America from playing in the next round of Premier League matches.

At the Brazilian Football Confederation’s request, Fifa invoked the clause to block teams in England from selecting the players who did not travel for international duty.

Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Leeds United would have all been left without important players for this weekend’s action.

According to Sky Sports News, a resolution was met late on Friday after extensive discussions between Fifa, associations of the affected nations, the FA and the Premier League.

Liverpool had faced the possibility of being without three major players in Fabinho, Alisson and Roberto Firmino for their games with Leeds on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Marcelo Bielsa’s side would have been without Raphinha, who turned down his first call-up for the Brazil national team.

Manchester City would not have been able to use Ederson and Gabriel Jesus for their game against Leicester, with Chelsea defender Thiago Silva also affected.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side would have also been without Fred for the visit of Newcastle.
